The REVIVE project officially launched its Transfer Phase with an introductory online meeting, bringing together existing and new project partners to begin the next stage of cooperation. The meeting marked the start of a new chapter focused on transferring successful approaches to rural territories facing demographic decline and strengthening local capacities to develop sustainable solutions.
Welcoming New Partners
The consortium welcomed its new partners:
- PREDA Development Agency of City of Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina
- ISD-Institute for Sustainable Development (Slovenia)
- ADRAL – Alentejo Regional Development Agency, Portugal
The new partners introduced their organizations and their expectations for participating in the REVIVE Transfer Phase.
The project is implemented with the cooperation of the following partners:

Building on Previous Success
Partners reflected on the achievements of the first phase of the project and discussed how the REVIVE approach is already inspiring other European regions. Particular attention was given to the strong engagement of Stakeholder Groups (SGs), whose enthusiasm and commitment demonstrated the value of collaborative, community-led development.
The project also aligns with the new emerging Interreg Euro-MED programming theme “The Right to Stay,” which addresses the growing challenge of depopulation in rural areas. The Transfer Phase will focus on helping new territories build the capacities needed to design and implement place-based solutions that improve quality of life and create opportunities for local communities.
Key Activities of the Transfer Phase
The main activities of the transfer phase are built around Work Package 5 – Transfer of testing results, The aim is to transfer and support the uptake of REVIVE tested results in 8 new receiver territories, strengthening their capacity to adapt community-based innovative business models, Innovative Community Cooperatives (ICC) approaches and Mediterranean Digital Innovation Hub (MDIH) related methodologies, and consolidating the REVIVE Network of ICCs in Euro-MED internal areas. One of the key expected outcomes will be the development of eight Territorial Roadmaps, providing strategic guidance for each receiving territory.
The first stage of the Transfer Phase will concentrate on preparing comprehensive diagnoses of the receiving territories p Partners will use a common methodology and templates to carry out:
- Context analysis;
- Transfer readiness assessment;
- Stakeholder Group (SHG) mobilization.
These activities are scheduled for completion by mid-October and will provide the foundation for future capacity-building and learning activities.
Receiving Territories
The REVIVE methodology will be transferred to eight receiving territories across Europe:
- Limassol District, Cyprus;
- Raiguer Territory, Spain;
- Maleshevo Region, North Macedonia;
- Chios Island, Greece;
- Gorenjska Region, Slovenia;
- Gorski Kotar, Croatia;
- Alentejo Central, Portugal;
- Prijedor Rural Area, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
These territories will work closely with experienced project partners to adapt and implement REVIVE approach according to their local needs and development priorities.
Looking Ahead
The introductory meeting established a shared understanding of the objectives, responsibilities, and timeline for the Transfer Phase which will be further elaborated at the upcoming Kick off meeting scheduled for 1-2 September in Cyprus. Over the coming months, partners will collaborate on territorial analyses, stakeholder engagement, and capacity-building activities that will lay the groundwork for testing innovative solutions in each participating region.
Through knowledge exchange and strong interregional cooperation, REVIVE continues to support resilient rural communities and contribute to ensuring that people have the opportunity and the right to stay and thrive in their home regions.
