Moving from Framework to Action: Transferring the REVIVE Model to Crete!

25/05/2026

Our journey to revitalize rural economies starts with powerful, hands-on collaboration. During our presentation at the 5th Innovative Sustainable Economy (ISE) Community of Practice gathering in Athens, the REVIVE project was proud to highlight the intensive work driving our Mentoring & Twinning Programme—the core activity where we have joined forces with AgroID Social Cooperative Enterprise (SCE).

Together, we are taking an ambitious step forward: translating cross-border innovation into a localized, real-world reality for the island of Crete.

🔄 The Mentoring & Twinning Programme in Action:

To ensure a successful knowledge transfer, our collaborative roadmap with AgroID has been highly structured, action-oriented, and focused on building regional capacity:

  • Developing the Action Plan: We co-designed a step-by-step workflow action plan specifically tailored to test and implement the REVIVE methodology across pilot areas in Crete.
  • Knowledge & Technical Exchanges: Through a series of intensive technical meetings and collaborative online exchanges, our teams actively shared insights, addressed local challenges, and aligned operational goals.
  • Policy Alignment: We conducted deep-dive reviews of existing rural policies and best practices to ensure that social economy principles can seamlessly integrate with regional development strategies.

🚜 What AgroID is Doing on the Ground with the REVIVE Framework in Crete:

Using the REVIVE Framework as their foundation, AgroID is directly addressing structural regional challenges—such as fragmented value chains, demographic aging, youth outmigration, and climate vulnerability—and turning them into opportunities for integration and resilience:

  • Deploying the REVIVE Business Model: AgroID is applying the step-by-step REVIVE business model framework, moving through territorial analysis, stakeholder engagement, and co-creation processes to design shortened, resilient agri-food supply chains.
  • Structuring an Ambitious Transformation Framework (2026–2034): They have mapped out a concrete, long-term implementation roadmap using the framework, starting with institutional setup and pipeline planning (Preparation Phase, 2026–2027), advancing to pilot projects (Activation Phase), and scaling up to full system integration.
  • Building a Food, Energy & Territorial Security Architecture: By embedding the framework’s core principles, AgroID is piloting decentralized renewable energy communities, promoting circular economy models, and protecting regional ecosystems.
