The REVIVE pilot project in Pla de Mallorca (Spain) aims to promote the use of local products within the tourism sector and beyond. To achieve this, REVIVE partners in Mallorca, AETIB and the Mallorca Chamber of Commerce have created a series of three immersive 360º videos showcasing the production process of traditional local products, namely: sobrassada (a local pork sausage), olive oil, and almonds, all produced in the Pla de Mallorca area. These products constitute part of the regional cultural and economic value.
These short videos take viewers on a journey from the fields to the table, highlighting each step of the production process. Designed for viewing with virtual reality (VR) headsets, the videos offer a fully immersive experience, allowing users to explore the production sites in 360º. They can also be accessed via smartphones through the YouTube app—while image quality is lower, the immersive aspect remains.
The videos, each lasting between 5 and 7 minutes and available in English, will be distributed to tourist establishments and local producers, and showcased at fairs and events promoting regional products.
Special thanks to the local producers that have allowed us to join and film their production processes and to the support of the Mancomunidad Pla de Mallorca and the DG of Innovation and Digital Transformation from the Balearic Islands Government.
