 Appennino Pistoiese, Tuscany – March 19-21, 2025

In a bid to foster innovative, community-driven business models and breathe new life into the internal areas of the Mediterranean, REVIVE partners and their stakeholders will convene in Tuscany for the Transnational Pilot Exchange Workshop and Field Visits. This event, set to take place from March 19 to 21, 2025, will bring together experts, policymakers, and local entrepreneurs to exchange ideas, present regional action plans, and explore ways to establish a transnational cooperation among actors involved.

Hosted in the picturesque Appennino Pistoiese, the event will kick off on March 19 at Mo.To.R.E in San Marcello Piteglio,  setting the stage for discussions on rural innovation and community revitalization. The workshop sessions will highlight innovative community-based business models developed within the framework of the REVIVE Project. Participants will get to know the action plans from project pilot regions, including:

  • The Food Community of the Appennino Pistoiese
  • The Cluster of West Larnaca
  • Action Plan for Istria’s Pilot Area
  • Revitalization Strategies for Podravje, Slovenia
  • Pilot Action Plans for North Macedonia and the Balearic Islands
  • The Gastronomic Network of the South Aegean Region

These presentations and discussions on possible collaborations will provide invaluable insights into transnational  clustering, economic sustainability, and local empowerment. The event will showcase successful local initiatives from the Pistoiese Apennines, such as the LEADER Experience in the Pistoia Mountains, the Mountain School: Advanced Training for Montagna Pistoiese  and the Ecomuseum of the Pistoia Mountains.

Following the public workshop, the attendees will have the opportunity to visit the region’s Ecomuseum Itinerary and Selvapiana Agricultural Company, gaining first-hand experience of  community initiatives in the area.

The second day (March 20) will feature immersive study visits to:

  • Taufi Agritourism Farm – a model for sustainable agrifood production and hospitality
  • INonno Cianco Restaurant – a champion of the Slow Food Movement
  • Doganaccia 2000 – an integrated hospitality and sports complex promoting sustainable tourism

These visits will demonstrate how traditional knowledge and modern innovation can create thriving local economies. The event will conclude on March 21 with a guided visit to the Central Market of Florence.

By fostering cross-border collaboration and sharing best practices, the REVIVE Transnational Pilot Exchange Workshop aims to inspire communities across the Mediterranean to embrace innovative, sustainable business models. This initiative underscores the vital role of local engagement in regional revitalization, paving the way for resilient, self-sustaining rural economies.

Stay tuned for further updates and insights from this transformative event!
