The training was arranged for farmers and professionals in the agriculture sector and other profiles to learn from the possibilities that digitalization can offer in their concrete field of work. To bring digitalization closer to their realities: what it could be, possible benefits and how it works and the trends and tools in digitalization in the rural areas. Organizer of the training was Mallorca Chamber of Commerce and AETIB within the framework of the REVIVE project (INTERREG Euro-MED) and Mallorca Rural within the framework of Rural Up project.
Content and Course of the Workshop
This four-hours training was arranged in two parts:
- One hour of immersive experiences for bringing the technology of immersive experiences closer to participants. Guided by the provider TopVR, participants learnt on what immersive experiences are, and the differences between different kind of immersive experiences. Five virtual reality glasses were brought into the session, and participants had the opportunity to try the virtual reality glasses with different experiences: a 360º video of a winery, an interactive route to a cultural space and a simulation of a fire extinction in an industrial setting.
- A three-hour training on tools for optimization, marketing and use of artificial intelligence apply to rural farms followed. It covered topics such as the digital transformation of SMEs, online selling, new digital business models (sharing economy, subscription models, freemium, on-demand economy), role of AI and automatization, data-based models, blockchain and decentralized economy). Furthermore, digital transformation in the agriculture was explained in further detail with the possibilities of use of sensors, water and energy management, precision agriculture, specialized agriculture, greenhouse management and livestock management among others.
