Organised Study Visit in Istria within the REVIVE Project

20/02/2025

The Institute of Agriculture and Tourism (IPTPO) organised a study visit in Istria on 18th and 19th February, within the REVIVE project, for all project partners and their local stakeholders from rural pilot areas where the project will be implemented. This event contributed to the exchange of experiences among partners and stakeholders. Participants from various Mediterranean countries – Spain, Italy, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Greece, and Cyprus – took part in the event.

To highlight its 150th anniversary this year, the Institute hosted a presentation showcasing its rich history and current activities.

On the first day, there were lectures on successful projects and initiatives in Istria. The platform ‘Domaća web tržnica’ (Local Web Marketplace), the result of a successful project led by the Institute, was presented. This was followed by presentations on the IQ – Istrian Quality initiative, the Vinistra association, and the Agricultural Department in Poreč, which is part of the University of Applied Sciences in Rijeka. The Institute organised a presentation on olive oil, followed by a guided tasting, as well as a tour of its wine cellar, which included a wine tasting. As part of the event, a visit to the Višnjan Observatory was also organised.

The second day was dedicated to study visits to examples of good practices in the rural area of northern Istria, the pilot area where the Institute will implement the REVIVE project. The programme included visit to Oprtalj, an educational guided tour of the organic production of olive oil and wine at Ipša, the Majcani cheese factory, where local dairy products are produced and sold, and the Delicia healthy homemade cookies factory. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the Aura Museum in the world’s smallest town – Hum.

The IPTPO team was delighted to host project partners and their stakeholders, showcasing a range of successful initiatives and inspiring stories from local producers!
